Accelerated Reader

    Accelerated Reader is a reading motivation program that helps kids get excited about books. Accelerated Reader helps teachers focus attention on careful reading of books, which improves students’ critical-thinking skills and builds the intrinsic love of reading.

    Students select a book from a grade level list. Every book is worth a certain amount of points. After reading the book at their own pace, the student takes a quiz on the computer. The reading practice quizzes help teachers motivate and monitor increased reading practice.

    Both the student and teacher get immediate, individualized constructive feedback to direct ongoing reading practice.

     Remember, reading harder books are worth more points, but it is much more important that a student read at his or her own READING/BOOK LEVEL.
